This course features wide fairways. Water hazards come into play on numerous occasions. The signature hole is #12, a 435-yard, par 4, requiring an uphill tee shot with out-of-bounds stakes lining the left and trees on the right side of the fairway, then an approach shot is to a well-bunkered green.

HOME OF THE FIRST TEE OF ATLANTA -A NINE hole jewel in Southwest Atlanta, John A. White Park was originally built in 1929 as a public nine-hole course. The course was reduced to five holes in the 1980's to accommodate a tennis facility. In 1999, the course was revived with a $2 million renovation and redesign by Bob Cupp - restoring it to a nine-hole, par 35 (2 par 5's, 4 par 4's and 3 par 3's), 2,800 yard course. The new Crenshaw bent greens add challenge to the old charm of a great walking course sprawled out over 40 acres - the best kept secret in Atlanta. The John A. White Practice facility includes a large driving range, practice green and separate practice bunker. Bring the kids and visit this fun 9 hole track, home of The First Tee of Atlanta.

This is a tree-lined, municipal, nine hole course. There is one water hazard and no sand bunkers. The terrain is very hilly, the greens are medium-sized, and the fairways are average width.

This course was built on hilly terrain that was once the site of a Civil War battle. The fairways are fairly narrow and tree lined, and water hazards (two creeks that meander their way through the course) occasionally come into play.
Charlie Yates Golf Course • 4.4 miles

Named for the Atlanta golf legend, this course is the centerpiece of a revitalized former public housing area just a few miles east of Atlanta. Measuring 3,480 yards from the back tees, this 18-hole executive course was designed by Rees Jones in 1999, and features fairways that are fast and undulating. The front nine opened for play in 1999, and the back nine followed in October 2000. A new clubhouse is scheduled to open spring 2002. The course is also home of the East Lake Junior Golf Academy.

This course was built on hilly terrain, so you can expect many uneven lies in the fairways. A creek comes into play on eight holes, and the greens are extremely fast. The signature hole is #8, a 199-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot over water to a shallow green. Locals claim that this is one of the best holes in the entire State of Georgia.

This course, renovated by Rees Jones in 1994-95, was the site of the 1963 Ryder Cup. Some of the fairways are wide open, while others are lined by mature trees. The greens are always well maintained and putt true. "GOLFWEEK" rated this course 24th among "America's 100 Best Classical Courses" for 1997, 32nd for 1998 and 27th for 1999. "GOLF Magazine" chose it 66th among the "Top 100 Courses in the U.S." for 1997 and 54th in 1999. This club hoasted the U.S. Amateur Tournament in 2001. Of interest is that this is the course where Bobby Jones learned to play golf. Inside the golf shop, Jones' locker still remains intact. Donald Ross redesigned the course earlier this century, and George Cobb also did some changes in 1960. Caddies are mandatory.
